Where to even begin. The Trixie plush took me one day to (mostly) complete, and the chainmail and leather armor she's wearing took the better part of 2 weeks!!!
So, Trixie is made out of Fleece with handpainted and machine embroidered applique' eyes. Her cutie mark is a machine embroidered Applique' with hand embroidered details and crystal bead details.
This chainmail is the first chainmail I've done for a pony, I've only done a few simple bracelets before, so this was an interesting challenge. Luckily, my SIL teaches chainmail classes, so I had a great resource for my questions.
The Chainmail is made out of silver, black and purple rings. It laces in the back with leather lacing, so it is removable, but I wouldn't recommend it,... it's tough to get on and off!
The leather is a Vegetable tanned heavy leather with Stars and Trixie's cutie mark hand carved into it. The back piece is easily removable, the bracers and grieves lace up at the back of her legs with waxed cord, so they are removable, but again, I don't recommend it
The leather is handpainted with irredescent acrylics and is sealed and oiled 5 times.
I do intend to make Trixie's hat and cape, and I have the most perfect micro suede purple fabric for it. I just wanted to post a photo of her with armor, since you won't be able to see it as well when I put the cape on.
Shining Armor in armor is next,...
I think The Great and Powerful Trixie is %20 cooler in chainmail and leather!
Who knows,... maybe if she's had this armor when she first came to Ponyville she would've beat the Ursa Minor!
